Courses

ICH1104 Fluid Mechanics (Mecánica de Fluidos)

This course delivers the basic concepts of fluid mechanics. The students will learn the following fundamental concepts: fluid statics, how to develop quantitative simple models using the integral form from a control volume, the differential analysis of fluid motion, and dimensional analysis and similitude.

ICH2114 Hydraulic Engineering (Ingeniería Hidráulica)

This course presents applications of hydraulic engineering, enabling the students to use the principles of fluid mechanics in the design and analysis of open channel and pipe flow.

ICH3254 Groundwater Contaminant Transport (Contaminación del Agua Subterránea)

This course allows the students to identify and analyze transport of chemical substances in the saturated/unsaturated soil and in groundwater. The students will learn how to use numerical models of fluid flow and solute transport in porous media.

ICH3290 Heat Transfer in the Environment (Transporte de Calor en el Medioambiente)

This course presents fundamental concepts of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and hydrology/hydrogeology, enabling the use of heat as an environmental tracer.

ICM3800 Constructal Design (Diseño con Teoría Constructal)

This course presents how the Constructal Theory can be used to design engineering systems. In this class, Drs. A. Bejan and S. Lorente lecture during the first week of the semester, and then Professors R. Escobar and F. Suárez work with the students in a constructal design project.

ICH2972 Research credits (Trabajo Personal Dirigido)

These credits allow the student to work in a research topic of interest for the student. This research has a work load of 5 hours per week. The list of research topics is available from the website of Investigación en Pregado (Professor Suárez).

ICH2985 Research credits (Investigación o Proyecto)

These credits allow the student to work in a research topic of interest for the student. This research has a work load of 10 hours per week. The list of research topics is available from the website of Investigación en Pregado (Professor Suárez).
